Child’s Stair gate – what age range are they suitable for?

Monday, October 24th, 2011

We currently live in a flat and always accompany our 4 year old daughter down the communal stairs, though she can walk up and down herself unaided. We are planning on buying a house with internal stairs, would she be too old to need a stair gate installed?

she should be ok at 4.

just watch her the first few times and make sure she does not run.

My child is in in GATE program but i want her in private catholic school for more spiritual and academics?

work, also because of divorce with her father i want her safety .

What exactly is your question?

I went to a catholic school, and it certainly prepares you well for highschool and the rest of your academic year. I also went there for safety reasons with my own father.

I say switch her!!

Child safety gate for edge?

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Does anyone know if they make safety gates for two edges??
the entrances to my kitchen does not have two walls it just the corner/edge of the counter and the edge of the dinning room wall so it not a flat surface i can mount a normal safety gate too and we desperately need one
my little one has learned how to climb in the oven and how to Clim up and turn the stove on and he does this all day long I am desperate to get a gate some how and the way my oven is we cant seem to find a lock for it we have tired a few but they just peel right off

Please send links of where to buy these gates for an edge vs a flat surface to mount them on

im on my mobile internet so i cant do the link, but have you tried the website "one step ahead" ive seen a ton of safety gates there

Pitbull scared of Child Safety Gate?

Saturday, April 9th, 2011

We have had this pitbull for a while, and we usually let him roam the house (he’s well trained). A couple weeks ago, we got a little Yorkie, and since she IS just a puppy, we got a Child Safety Gate to keep her in the kitchen at night.

While it’s up, she constantly tries to knock it down (very funny). Now, here’s the kicker. Our pitbull is terrified of it!!! He refuses to even go near it!!! During the night, he lays under the kitchen table and stares at it, as if waiting for it to attack him.

What could be causing this unnecessary fear?

Asking about a pit bull in cars and transportation isn’t likely to get you a useful answer. Why not try again in http://answers.yahoo.com/dir/index?link=list&sid=396546021?

Where do you put your toddler for time-out when they can climb over a child gate?

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

One thing I will say is definitely do not put them in their room, what is in their room? think about it, their toys, their familiar photo’s on the walls, their comfy bed, their clothes and playthings. What would you do if you were confined to a room like that? Play of course! and if they do not play, do you want them to think of their nice safe room as a prison or a bad place? of course not, you want them to be able to sleep in it.

The best thing to do depends on where the gate is and where she is climbing over it to.

If you are on the other side of the gate and she is climbing over it to GET TO you: then just find a time out spot on the same side of the gate as you, and constantly (no matter how many times she runs to you or screams or gets up and runs around) keep putting her back on the naughty "spot" (Whatever you chose, stool, chair, couch, mat, spot on the floor, step, although i don’t recommend the couch, as i stated before comfy couch should not – unpleasantness) keep bringing her back to the spot and restart her time. keep doing this until she gets tired and sits for her full time!

If you are on the same side of the gate and she is climbing it to GET AWAY from you: Just let her do it, keep bringing her back to the spot and restart her time. keep doing this until she gets tired and sits for her full time! think about it, it is tiring for you to just step over the gate 20 times, how tiring is it going to be fore her to actually climb over it 20 times, eventually she will just get too tired or she will just realize that you mean business and aren’t going to let her get away just because there is a child gate in the way.

No matter what the situation, make sure you explain why she was in trouble in the first place and get an apology, otherwise it will be for nothing, children who have been fighting and crying for 20 min to get out of time out rarely remember why they were in time out to begin with!

On a side note, in my personal opinion if your toddler is old enough to climb over the gate and you don’t have a younger sibling it is probably time to get rid of the gates all together. You should try to teach her no zones, like put up a red stop sign when you are cooking in the kitchen, and explain to her that things are very hot when you are cooking and that she could get hurt if she goes into a NO-ZONE.

Would you lock your child in his room to protect his siblings?

Friday, March 4th, 2011

my 4 year old son has emotional issues making him not fearful at all to consequences at all and punishments are a total joke to him. Recently he has begun to harm his little sister at night (they were sharina room) He can no longer be left alone with lil sister or new baby for fear of injury. My problem now is if I leave his door unlocked he could go into the younger kids rooms and still hurt them while i am asleep. Do i lock his door or run the risk of losing a child? he know how to open child gates and take of door knob locks.

dont let him near the kids, take him to see some1 so he can be tested to make sure he’s not bipolar or even worse phycotic. it might just be a phace but some kids do worse things when only a few years older, like killing animsla and such. im not trying to scare you but its best to get him tested to make sure theres nothing wrong with him mentaly or emotionaly for the other childrens sake. It might be hard for i know i wouldnt run the risk of my children being hurt by their sibling

Hi we had a little gate put up over 10 years ago to stop child from falling down stairs?

Friday, February 18th, 2011

as we live on top floor we asked council permission for us to be able to put it up,which they gave us permission but now they handed the flats over to merlin and they saying they want to take it down its not effecting anyone it being there where do we stand with this someone please help x
still have young children

You were granted permission to put it up because of a need. That need no longer exist. You must go back to the original code. Just take it down and save yourself a lot of hassle.
