Putting him into a bed tonight for the 1st time?
hey
my son is 21 months and we got him a toddler bed, we are putting him in it for the 1st time tonight.
what age did your wee one go into a toddle bed?
what was the 1st week like?
will i need to take the toys/books he has out of his room?
i have a baby gate up in his room and his wardrobe and drawers have safety baby locks on them.
hey hun
i dont remember exactly but summer was around 14 months and thomas went into his on his 1st birthday
1st week was fine then the realised they could get up just keep putting them back 1st and 2nd time say its bedtime night night then after that dont say anything when you take him back they soon get the picture that its not a game
leave the books and toys where they are
im guessing you have stairs near the bedrooms if not loose the stair gates they can be dangerous in kids bedrooms if theres a fire its harder to get to them
good luck he will be fine

I think my daughter was about 16 months or so when she first went into her toddler bed. She keep climbing out of the crib, and getting her little arms stuck in the rails, so we converted it to a bed. Best thing I ever did. The first night was great. She felt like such a big girl, and was so happy to be in it. I think it took a week before she realized how easy it was to move around in there now…She is currently a little over 2 years old. She gets up a lot now and moves her blanket and her "baby" and "gilla" (stuffed gorilla) to the floor in front of the door and sleeps there a lot. I think she likes laying in front of the heater vent, lol. I find her on the floor a lot and move her back into her bed. She’s good about it- it’s really not a big deal.

Hi my son was about 14 months when i took him out his cot he could climb out of it, so i thought it was safer to change it into the cot bed. He was fine slept great. Maybe if you gave him his favourite teddy in with him he wouldn’t feel the need to get out. It was winter time when i changed my son so his room was dark and i never put a night light on for him when he went to bed so don’t think he wanted to get out.(maybe sounds a bit cruel but it worked)

mine were 19 months, they actually slept soooo much better int heir toddler bed then their cot! they had no problems being moved over, especially since they were character beds, my son has a car bed and my daughter has a dora bed they were so excited to go in them they didnt havea second thought for their cots! i left their toys in their rooms and luckily they never got out and played with them until morning!
